ASE MASTER MECHANIC TEST NOTES & FLAWS NOTED DURING TESTING: (1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs good. It starts right up, idle is nice and smooth, and wide open throttle snap sounds good. The oil quality looks good and there is no smoke from tail pipes. There are no unusual noises from operating engine. Wastegate has slight rattle but very common of these engines; (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks good. Valve covers, Oil Filter Stand Housing, Oil Pressure Sensor, Oil Pan & possibly the VVT sensors too all appear to be leaking & willl need new gaskets / seals ront and rear mains look dry. The turbo has wastegate & axial play and is near end of life so I recommend replacing the turbocharger.. Overall a nice looking engine assembly.

In-car test: ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, RADIATOR WASN’T HIT SO COOLANT SUPPLY AND OIL COOLERS WERENT COMPROMISED. PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.
Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS OK, NOTED SOME OIL LEAKS FROM OIL FILTER STAND AND OIL PRESSURE SENSOR AS WELL AS VALVE COVER AND OIL PAIN AND POSSIBLY VVT ORING. TURBO HAS SOME AXIAL PLAY AND IS NEAR END OF LIFE . WOULD SUGGEST ENGINE BE RE SEALED AND CUSTOMER USE THEIR TURBO IF ITS IN BETTER SHAPE. AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
