ASE MASTER MECHANIC TEST NOTES & FLAWS NOTED DURING TESTING: (1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs good. It starts right up, idle is nice and smooth, and wide open throttle snap sounds good. The oil quality looks good and there is no smoke from tail pipes. There are no unusual noises from operating engine besides possibly faint noise supercharger coupler; (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks good. Valve cover & Front Timing Cover both appear to show signs of oil leaking. I do notice in the valley area there is signs of coolant leaking so at the highest level of recommendations you must replace the oil cooler seals and manifold y-pipe (The Plastic Crosspipe) that always breaks and is why these engines fail so often besides timing chain guides.. Overall a nice looking & very healthy engine assembly.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS GOOD. IDLE IS NICE AND SMOOTH AND WIDE OPEN SNAP SOUNDS GOOD. RADIATOR WASN’T HIT SO COOLANT SUPPLY WASN’T COMPROMISED. PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS GOOD. DID NOTE SLIGHT OIL WEEPS AROUND VALVE COVER AND FRONT TIMING COVER AREA, ALSO NOTED SOME COOLANT IN VALLEY AREA SO I HIGHLY SUGGEST REPLACING OIL COOLER SEALS AND MANIFOLD Y PIPE (THE PLASTIC ONE THAT ALWAYS BREAKS). AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
