ASE MASTER MECHANIC TEST NOTES & FLAWS NOTED DURING TESTING: (1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs good. It starts right up, idle is nice and smooth, and wide open throttle snap sounds good. The oil quality looks good and there is no smoke from tail pipes. There are no unusual noises from operating engine; (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks good. We recommend replacing the Water Pump as it shows signs of coolant leaking I would also suggest replacing any surrounding coolant hoses in that area, valve cover doesn't appear to be leaking. Front and rear mains look dry. The oil pan also does not appear to have any leaks. The turbo feels good with no radial or axial play but did throw a fault code for 123439 Electrical Wastegate Valve Adaptation (Bottom Limit Position) we suggest customer uses their existing actuator or get new one from BMW. Overall a nice looking engine assembly.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS REALLY GOOD, IT DID HAVE ONE FAULT STORED IN DME FOR ELECTRONIC WASTE GATE ACTUATOR SO WILL INSPECT AND POSSIBLY REMOVE WHEN ENGINE IS OUT, PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, DID NOTE A COOLANT LEAK FROM AROUND WATER PUMP AREA AND WOULD SUGGEST REPLACING IT AND ALL THE COOLING HOSES IN THE AREA, ALSO NOTED A FAULT CODE FOR ONE OF THE WASTE GATE ACTUATORS 123439 Electrical wastegate valve , adaptation: Bottom limit position, SUGGEST CUSTOMER USE THEIR ACTUATORS OR GET NEW ONES.
