ASE MASTER MECHANIC TEST NOTES & FLAWS NOTED DURING TESTING: (1 – RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs good with smooth idle and strong throttle snap. No smoke or abnormal ticking/knocking was present during operation. (2 – POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Overall engine looks good. Inspector noted the vacuum pump is leaking oil and should be replaced. Some oil weeps at the valve cover and upper timing cover were also observed; not severe but should be addressed before installation. As always, replacement of standard service and wear items (timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, filters) is recommended before returning the engine to service.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS GOOD, IDLE IS SMOOTH AND WIDE OPEN THROTTLE SNAP SOUNDS GOOD. PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.

Out-of-car inspection: OVEALL ENGINE LOODS GOOD, DID NOTE VACUUM PUMP IS LEAKING OIL AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. ALSO NOTED SOME OIL WEEPS AROUND VALVE COVER AND UPPER TIMING COVER THAT NO TO BAD BUT SHOULD BE ADRESSED BEFORE INSTALL. AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
