(1 – RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there’s no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 – POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with no major leaks or issues found during teardown. Water pump feels good, valve covers don’t appear to be leaking, and both front and rear mains look dry. The oil pan also appears leak-free. Turbo feels tight with minimal radial or axial play, and wastegates have typical movement. (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS GREAT, IDLE IS NICE AND SMOOTH AND WIDE OPEN THROTTLE SNAP SOUNDS GOOD, RADIATOR WASN’T HIT SO COOLING SYSTEM WASN’T COMPROMISED. PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, DID NOTE A SLIGHT OIL WEEP AROUND OIL FILTER STAND, VALVE COVER AND OIL PAN. TURBO FEELS PRETTY GOOD, DOES HAVE SOME RADIAL PLAY BUT ALMOST NO AXIAL PLAY AND THE TYPICAL WASTE GATE PLAY. AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
