(1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there's no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with no major issues found during teardown. Valve covers don't appear to be leaking, but there is a leak at the Rear Main Seal, this will need a re-seal. The oil pan also has a small leak and there is a ding in the pan (see photos). Turbos feel tight with minimal radial or axial play, and wastegates have a little play, this is typical (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS REALLY NICE. SMOOTH IDLE AND WIDE OPEN THROTTLE SNAP SOUNDS GOOD. PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, DID NOTE AN OIL LEAK FROM AROUND THE LOWER OIL PAN AND I CAN SEE A SMALL DING. (SEE PICTURES IN FOLDER). LOOKS TO NEED A RE SEAL, ALSO NOTED REAR MAIN SEAL APPEARS TO BE LEAKING AS WELL. TURBOS BOTH HAVE A LITTLE WASTE GATE PLAY. AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
