(1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there's no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with no major issues found during teardown. Valve covers appear to have been recently replaced, but not OEM. Oil filter housing gasket leaking, possibly oil pan and rear main seal as well. Turbo has more play than I perfer, recommend customer to replace with theirs or new. (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS GREAT, IDLE IS SMOOTH AND WIDE OPEN SNAP SOUNDS GOOD, RADIATOR WASNT HIT SO COOLANT SUPPLY WASNT COMPROMISED. LOOKS TO BE VALVE COVER AND POSSIBLY OIL FILTER STAND GASKETS WERE REPLACED RECENTLY.

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, NOTED VALVE COVER REPLACED BUT NOT OEM, OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKETS NEED TO BE REPLACED THEY ARE LEAKING AND POSSIBLE OIL PAN AND REAR MAIN AS WELL. TURBO HAS TOO MUCH PLAY FOR MY LIKING, LEAVING ON BUT I WOULD SUGGEST CUSTOMER USE THEIRS IF IN BETTER SHAPE. AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
