(1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there's no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with no major issues found during teardown. Engine set a fault for Pressure solenoid on the oil pump, that will need replaced prior to installation. (common failure on these engines so should be done anyway, requires R&R of oil pan) Valve covers don't appear to be leaking, and both front and rear mains look dry. The oil pan also appears leak-free. Turbo feels tight with minimal radial or axial play, and wastegates have typical movement. (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability. REPLACE OIL PUMP PRESSURE SOLENOID prior to installation.

Note: needs wiring to oil pressure control solenoid and possibly the solenoid it self to be replaced (you must remove oil pan to do this job).

In-car test: Engine starts and idles nice and smooth, wide open throttle snap sounds good. This engine did set a fault for oil pressure solenoid (these default to full pressure so engine ok). Pending a compression test and physical check this will be a unit.

Out-of-car inspection: Overall engine looks good, did note an oil leak from oil filter housing and cooler gaskets. This engine did set a fault for oil pressure solenoid on oil pump so it will need that replaced. (This is a comon fauilure on these engines and requires the oil pan to be removed to replace it ).As always, I recommend any service and wear items such as timing chains, belts, guides , tensioners, spark plugs , injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets and filter be serviced before engine is put back into service.
