(1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there's no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with no major leaks or issues found during teardown. Front timing cover and possibly the oil pan and valve cover have oil leak but faint. Turbo is worn out, too much radial play and signs of oil seal leaking. Recommend replacing prior to installation. (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability.

In-car test: Engine runs great, nice smooth idle and wide open snap sounds good. radiator wasnt hit in crash so coolant supply wasnt compromised. Pending a compression test and physical check this will be a unit.

Out-of-car inspection: Overall engine looks good, did note an oil leak around front timing cover and possibly the oil pan and valve cover but they are faint. Turbo is worn out. Has a little too much radial play and there are signs of oil seal leaking. As always, I recommend any service and wear items such as timing chains, belts, guides , tensioners, spark plugs , injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets and filter be serviced before engine is put back into service.
