ASE MASTER MECHANIC TEST NOTES & FLAWS NOTED DURING TESTING: (1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs good. It starts right up, idle is nice and smooth, and wide open throttle snap sounds good. The oil quality looks good and there is no smoke from tail pipes. There are no unusual noises from operating engine besides the typical wastegate play; (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks good. valve cover, oil filter housing stand & Oil pressure switch all appear to have slight oil weep / leak. The oil pan also does not appear to have any leaks. The turbo feels good with minimal radial or axial play but does have waste gates typical amount of play. Overall a nice looking engine assembly.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS GOOD, IDLE IS SMOOTH AND WIDE OPEN SNAP SOUNDS GOOD. DEFINATLY NOTE SOME AUDIBLE WASTE GATE RATTLE ON COLD START. PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, DID NOTS SLIGHT OIL WEEP AROUND VALVE COVER AREA, OIL LEAKING FROM OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ON OIL FILTER STAND (COMMON) AND LOOKS TO BE OIL PAN HAS A LEAK AS WELL. TURBO FEELS PRETTY GOOD, VERY LITTLE RADIAL OR AXIAL PLAY. IT DOES HAVE SOME WASTE GATE PLAY. AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
