ASE Master Mechanic Inspection

Hands-on tested before listing by MKF on October 22, 2025

(1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there's no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with minor leaks and issues found during teardown. Valve cover and front timing cover appear to be leaking, oil cooler has broken pipe so cooler is not included. The oil pan also appears leak-free. Turbo has some radial play but very little axial play, and wastegates have typical movement, there are some hairline cracks which these turbos are known for. Recommend customer use their own if they're in better shape. (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability.

In-car test: starts right up and idles nice and smooth.real snappy when need didn’t run for long due to low coolant.no smoke at all

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL LOOKS GOOD, DID NOTE SOME OIL LEAKING AROUND VALVE COVER AND FRONT TIMING COVER, BROKEN PIPE ON OIL COOLER SO REMOVED IT (NO OIL COOLER INCLUDED WITH THIS ENGINE), TURBO HAS SOME RADIAL PLAY BUT VERY LITTLE AXIAL PLAY, IT ALSO HAS SOME HAIRLINE CRACKS THAT THESE TURBOS ARE KNOWN FOR. CUSTOMER MAY USE THEIR TURBO IF ITS IN BETTER SHAPE AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND F...
