(1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there's no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with minor issues found during teardown. Found some oil leaking around valve cover and the 2 balance shaft plugs at the front of the engine. Balance shaft will need new seals prior to installation. The oil pan appears leak-free. Turbo feels tight with minimal radial or axial play, wastegates have typical movement and compressor wheel in good shape. (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability.

In-car test: ENGINE RUNS GOOD. IDLE IS SMOOTH AND WIDE OPEN SNAP SOUNDS GOOD. RADIATOR WASN’T HIT SO COOLANT SUPPLY WASN’T COMPROMISED. PENDING A COMPRESSION TEST AND PHYSICAL CHECK THIS WILL BE A UNIT.

Out-of-car inspection: OVERALL ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, DID NOTE SOME OIL LEAKING AROUND VALVE COVER AND THE 2 BALANCE SHAFT PLUGS AT FRONT OF ENGINE , TURBO FEELS GOOD, VERY LITTLE RADIAL OR AXIAL PLAY AND COMPRESSOR WHEEL IN GOOD SHAPE. AS ALWAYS, RECOMMEND ANY SERVICE AND WEAR ITEMS SUCH AS TIMING CHAINS, BELTS, GUIDES , TENSIONERS, SPARK PLUGS , INJECTORS, PUMPS, SEALS ,GASKETS AND FILTER BE SERVICED BEFORE ENGINE BE PUT BACK INTO SERVICE.
