ASE Master Mechanic Inspection

Hands-on tested before listing by Mike on July 17, 2026

(1 - RUNNING ENGINE TEST NOTES): Engine runs great, starts right up, idle is smooth, and wide-open throttle snap sounds good. Oil quality looks good and there's no smoke from the tailpipes. No unusual noises heard from the operating engine. (2 - POST REMOVAL INSPECTION NOTES): Engine overall looks solid with no major issues found during teardown. Valve cover area has small oil weep, noted some hairline cracks in the exhaust manifold and turbo (very common on these) Turbo has some radial play, recommend swapping out if yours is in better shape. (3 - SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE): Replacement of timing components, plugs, injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets, hoses, and filters should be done prior to installation for long-term reliability.

In-car test: Engine runs nice and smooth, wide open snap sounds good, radiator wasnt hit so coolant supply wasnt compromised. Pending a compression test and physical check this will be a unit.

Out-of-car inspection: Overall engine looks good, did note a little oil weep around valve cover area. note some hairline cracks in exhast manifold / turbo (common on these) Turbo has some radial play as well so recommend customer use their turbo if in better shape. As always, I recommend any service and wear items such as timing chains, belts, guides , tensioners, spark plugs , injectors, pumps, seals, gaskets and filter be serviced before engine is put back into service.
